    Preserving Family History:
Workshop at the Kanabec History Center
    Thurs. April 26 6:30 p.m.

A Workshop By Bob Herskovitz, Outreach Conservator for the Minnesota
Historical Society

Learn about organizing your family papers, photos and other family
treasures, how to create a successful oral history, and how to preserve
different types of memorabilia. MHS outreach conservator Bob Herskovitz will
discuss arranging and storing family papers, photos and other family
treasures so future generations can appreciate your family’s experiences,
heritage and history. He will present guidelines for creating an oral
history so that it will be informative and useful not only now, but for
generations to come. Using items that participants bring with them, he will
discuss the display, storage, and care of family treasures. Participants are
encouraged to bring items that they have a preservation question about and
that can be transported safely.
The program, open to the public, will be on Thurs. April 26, 6:30 p.m.
at the Kanabec History Center located at 805 West Forest Avenue in Mora.
The workshop is part of the MHS Minnesota’s Greatest Generation project.
Those who lived through the Great Depression and World War 11 learned to do
without. Financial adversity, war rationing and material shortages were a
part of everyday life, but Americans who overcame these hardships have
become known as the “Greatest Generation.” MHS realizes the importance of
saving this era’s stories and preserving their treasured keepsakes so future
generations can appreciate their heritage and history.
Preserving the documents and artifacts of Kanabec County’s History is
the work of the Kanabec History Center, a job made possible by the support
of our members.

    KHC Antique & Collectable Nook
    To Open This Spring

The Kanabec History Center is opening a new addition to the Kanabec
History Center Gift Shop, called the Antique & Collectable Nook. The shop

We are looking for all types of antique items from furniture to whatever
from the 1950's and earlier. We will be taking consignments during April and
need them by April 30. As space is limited, items will need to be okayed by
History Center Directors. Call Today for more information.

This will be an on-going part of the KHC Gift Shop so we will continue
to need more items as things sell. Help us make this a great History Center
