KANABEC HISTORY CENTER
August 28, 2007
Due to fiscal reasons, the Kanabec Historical Society’s Board of Directors has made the decision to reduce the History Center open hours and full time staff hours effective October 1, 2007.
New open hours at Kanabec History Center will be 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturdays.
Expenses are steadily increasing for the History Center, while some income sources are staying the same and others are declining. The Board has decided to balance anticipated expenses to projected income rather than using limited financial investments for daily operational expenses.
We regret the effect these changes will have on the staff and hope to minimize impact on those who visit and use the History Center by increasing the use of volunteers.
We encourage members of the Kanabec Historical Society and other concerned community members to call Board members with questions or concerns and attend the Annual Meeting to be held on Thursday, October 18, 2007 in the History Center conference room.
You are invited to join us for dinner at 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. followed by a brief Annual Meeting. At 7:00 p.m. Minnesota photographer, Doug Ohman, will do a presentation and book signing on Cabins of Minnesota.
Sincerely,
Kanabec History Center Board Members

Shirley Lewison Dawn Besemann
