Basic Drawing Class Offered at the Kanabec History Center
Taking Registrations Now!
ThIs three day class will run Monday June 11 through Wednesday June 13, 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. Basic Drawing includes gesture, figure, portrait and
landscape drawing. You will learn about composition and a variety of drawing
techniques. The instructor for the class is local artist Donna Olson.
Students should bring a sketch pad, 2B & 4B drawing pencils, a pink eraser,
a small mirror and a bag lunch. Call the Kanabec History Center at
320-679-1665 for fee information and to register. The Kanabec History Center
is located at 805 West Forest Avenue in Mora.
Old Tyme Country School
at The Kanabec History Center, Its Fun!!
Old Tyme Country School classes are held in the historic Whittier School, on
the Kanabec History Center grounds each summer. The classes are taught with
materials from the early 1900’s, games at recess and other activities are
all based on this time period. This year’s sessions are: Week 1 - July 23
thought the 27th; Week 2 - August 6 through 10 and Week 3 - August 13
through the 17th. Each session consists of five consecutive days running
from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Students wishing to participate in Old Tyme Country School this summer at
the Kanabec History Center need to register as soon as possible since
classes fill quickly. Call 320-679-1665 for fee information. Classes are
open to all students first through eighth grade. We have several students
each year that visit from other parts of the country, as well as our own
Kanabec County students. For registration forms and more information,

Tickets Are Now Available for the
Heritage Bridal Show and Luncheon
The Kanabec History Center Board of Directors is hosting a Bridal Show and
Luncheon on Saturday June 23. The luncheon begins at 1 p.m. followed by the
bridal gown fashion show. The gowns will represent the various decades along
with bridesmaid and flower girl dresses. There will also be gowns from the
History Center archives on display in the exhibit hall. Area businesses have
been invited to set up a booth in the History Center conference room with
information on cakes, catering, room rentals etc. as part of the Bridal
Bazaar. The Bazaar and gowns in the exhibit hall will be on display from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and there is a discount for
purchasing your tickets before June 21, 2007. Call 320-679-1665 for ticket
price.
Anyone wishing to loan a gown for the show, or anyone who would like to be a
model give us a call, the History Center is open 10 to 4:30 Monday through
Saturday. Any businesses who would like to be a part of the Bazaar, please
give us a call. The spaces are free, and the booth can me manned or unmanned
information booths. We are looking for florists, jewelers, caterers, bakers,
tuxedo rental, limo rentals etc.
