Holiday Happenings at the Kanabec History Center

The Kanabec History Center in Mora invites everyone to their Holiday events. The Coin School Christmas Boutique opens the day after Thanksgiving, Friday November 23, and remains open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through December 15, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The historic 109 year old Coin School building has been transformed into a Christmas Boutique filled with hand crafted items: pottery, ornaments, pillows, jewelry and much more. Also included in the Boutique are Swedish import items, candles, lingon berries, books, etc and items from the Antique and Collectible Nook. The Museum Gift Shop and Antique Nook are also open and stocked with merchandise for the holidays. AND no admission charge for the History Center exhibits during the holidays. History Center members receive a 10% discount on all of their purchases including the Christmas Boutique.

On Saturday December 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Kanabec History Center is hosting a Swedish Open House. There will be a Swedish style decorated tree, coffee and traditional Swedish good things to eat, all free of charge. Along with the coffee and goodies the History Center Gift Shop will feature a display of the their Swedish merchandise including Dala Horses, Swedish Straw ornaments, napkins, flags, plates, cups, decorative tiles, lingon berries and imported cookies.

Saturday December 15 is the date for this year's Christmas Tour of Homes fundraiser. Ticket holders will be able to tour five to six area homes that are all decked out inside and out for the holidays. The day starts at the History Center to pick your maps, get coffee and donuts, and pick up your coupons for the Christmas Boutique and KHC Gift Shop. The homes are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the History Center Boutique and Gift Shop are open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Kanabec History Center located at 805 West Forest Avenue in Mora.
