This Thursday, Doug Ohman
"Cabins of Minnesota" Book Signing
& Slide Presentation
You've seen him on the Twin Cities interview programs, his work has been featured on PBS, come meet Minnesota photographer, Doug Ohman at this FREE event, sponsored by the Kanabec History Center, Thursday evening Oct. 18. Listen to his entertaining presentation and view his breath taking slides. Mr. Ohman will also be available for a book signing of "Cabins of Minnesota," at the Kanabec History Center on Thursday, October 18.
The evening, hosted by the Kanabec History Center Board of Directors, begins with dinner at 5:30 to 6:30, a short annual meeting 6:30 to 7:00. The annual meeting is an opportunity for all of the Kanabec Historical Society members to voice their opinions and ideas for the History Center. Doug Ohman's slide presentation begin at 7 p.m. with the book signing to follow.
The public is invited to this free event including the dinner and meeting, donations are appreciated. There will be a volunteer recognition during the dinner. Come enjoy the dinner and presentation. If you can't make the dinner you are welcome to come to the presentation.
"Cabins of Minnesota" is the fifth book in the Minnesota Byways series. The KHC Gift Shop carries all five titles, "School Houses of Minnesota," Courthouses of Minnesota," "Barns of Minnesota," and "Churches of Minnesota."
Doug Ohman and writer Bill Holm highlight the state's unique and treasured cabins - the storied Oberholtzer cabins on Mallard Island in Rainy Lake; the oldest cabin on Ten Mile Lake near Hackensack; the celebrated Nellie Bly houseboat on the Mississippi at Red Wing and Mora's Pine Grove Cabins.

Looking for Crafters for the Coin School Christmas Boutique!!!
The Kanabec History Center is in the process of coordinating this year's Christmas Boutique Fundraiser and is looking for more crafters. The Christmas Boutique will be in the Coin School, on the Kanabec History Center grounds. All of the merchandising, selling, sales tax, etc. is taken care of by the History Center. We are looking for home made Christmas items, decorations and gift items. If you are interested in having your crafts for sale in the Boutique on a consignment basis give the History Center a call at 679-1665. Help make this the most successful year ever!!!!
