Photography Workshop Series at the Kanabec History Center
Local photographer, Dee Kotaska will once again be giving a series of workshops at the Kanabec History Center during the month of November. You can register for the workshops by calling 320-679-1665 or stopping in at the Kanabec History Center located on 805 West Forest Avenue in Mora. There is a fee for each class, a portion of which goes to help support the Kanabec History Center.
Digital Camera Basics, Thursday, November 1, 7 to 9 p.m.: Buying a digital camera can be an awesome and overwhelming endeavor. All those choices! This workshop is designed to provide basic information for those intending to purchase a new digital camera or those who have just purchased a camera and it hasn't quite made it out of the box yet. BRING CAMERA AND MANUAL IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A CAMERA. There is a maximum of 15 participants.
Understanding the Camera, Thursday, November 15, 7 to 9:30 p.m.: Cameras have advanced greatly since the days of simply "pointing and shooting." Even the smallest camera has a lot more capability than most photographers realize. In this workshop, we will discuss how a camera works, the difference between SLR and point and shoot cameras and film and digital cameras. We will spend time negotiating the menus and options of digital cameras. Since each camera is different and has different programs, it is absolutely essential that each person BRING THEIR CAMERA AND MANUAL TO THE CLASS. Open to all levels, both digital and film cameras. Maximum 15 participants.
Opening the Photographer's Eye, Thursday, November 29, 7 to 9 p.m.: In this workshop we will discuss what makes a pleasing photograph, rather than just a snapshot. We will discuss composition, what goes into creating a pleasing image. Photography literally means, "to write with light," so we will talk about how to work with natural light and camera flash light. Films and processing will also be discussed, if film camera users are in the class. Appropriate for all levels, digital and film cameras, point and shoot and SLR. BRING YOUR CAMERA AND MANUAL. Maximum is 30.
