Coming to the Kanabec History Center
"Cabins of Minnesota" Book Signing 
& Slide Presentation

Minnesota photographer, Doug Ohman will give a slide presentation and book signing of "Cabins of Minnesota" at the Kanabec History Center on Thursday, October 18. The evening, hosted by the Kanabec History Center Board of Directors, will begin with dinner at 5:30 to 6:30, a short annual meeting 6:30 to 7:00 with Doug Ohman's slide presentation beginning at 7 p.m. with the book signing to follow.

The public is invited to this free event including the dinner and meeting, donations are appreciated. There will be a volunteer recognition during the dinner. Come enjoy the dinner and presentation. If you can't make the dinner you are welcome to come to the presentation.

"Cabins of Minnesota" is the fifth book in the Minnesota Byways series. The KHC Gift Shop carries all five titles, "School Houses of Minnesota," Courthouses of Minnesota," "Barns of Minnesota," and "Churches of Minnesota." 

Doug Ohman and writer Bill Holm highlight the state's unique and treasured cabins - the storied Oberholtzer cabins on Mallard Island in Rainy Lake; the oldest cabin on Ten Mile Lake near Hackensack; the celebrated Nellie Bly houseboat on the Mississippi at Red Wing and Mora's Pine Grove Cabins.

The Friends of the Grass Lake Church Announce Raffle Winners

The Friends of the Grass Lake Church drew winners for their raffle fundraiser, Sat. Sept. 8th at the Kanabec History Center, the winners are: $100  - Robert Benes, $250  - Leslie Rudd and $500 - Karen Larson. Proceeds from the raffle sale will go into the Grass Lake Church Restoration Fund. Plans are in the works for repairing the Church foundation in the Spring. Anyone that is interested in the Grass Lake Church restoration or are interested in finding out more about this historic building are invited to attend the next meeting, of the Friends of the Grass Lake Church, Sat. Oct. 6 at the Park Café in Braham at 10 AM.
