Coming to the Kanabec History Center
"Cabins of Minnesota" Book Signing 
& Slide Presentation

Minnesota photographer, Doug Ohman will give a slide presentation and book signing of "Cabins of Minnesota" at the Kanabec History Center on Thursday, October 18. The evening, hosted by the Kanabec History Center Board of Directors, will begin with dinner at 5:30 to 6:30, a short annual meeting 6:30 to 7:00 with Doug Ohman's slide presentation beginning at 7 p.m. with the book signing to follow.

The public is invited to this free event including the dinner and meeting, donations are appreciated. There will be a volunteer recognition during the dinner. Come enjoy the dinner and presentation. If you can't make the dinner you are welcome to come to the presentation.

"Cabins of Minnesota" is the fifth book in the Minnesota Byways series. The KHC Gift Shop carries all five titles, "School Houses of Minnesota," Courthouses of Minnesota," "Barns of Minnesota," and "Churches of Minnesota." 

Doug Ohman and writer Bill Holm highlight the state's unique and treasured cabins - the storied Oberholtzer cabins on Mallard Island in Rainy Lake; the oldest cabin on Ten Mile Lake near Hackensack; the celebrated Nellie Bly houseboat on the Mississippi at Red Wing and Mora's Pine Grove Cabins.

Looking for Crafters!!!

The Kanabec History Center is in the process of coordinating this year's Christmas Boutique Fundraiser and is looking for more crafters. The Christmas Boutique will be in the Coin School, on the Kanabec History Center grounds. All of the merchandising, selling, sales tax, etc. is taken care of by the History Center. We are looking for home made Christmas items, decorations and gift items. If you are interested in having your crafts for sale in the Boutique on a consignment basis give the History Center a call at 679-1665.
