Try the "Eat Local Challenge" at the PICK'M Farmer's Market

Pot Luck Social in Braham Sept 28

Everyone who is interested in the PICK'M Farmer's Market in Braham is invited to a pot luck social at Healthy Adventures Fitness Center, West Central Drive, on Friday, September 28, at 7:30 p.m. "The purpose will be to enjoy the local produce and to have a mid-season evaluation of the market," said Braham Area Chamber of Commerce Coordinator Valorie Arrowsmith. Healthy Adventures is in downtown Braham, half a block from the market.

"Here is our suggestion," she added, "shop at the market on Thursday, and then make a dish from what you buy for the Farmer's Market pot luck social the next evening. The market manager Tracy Lenau has a few pumpkin, carrot and beet recipes, but you can use your own favorites." Vendors, growers, producers and the public are invited to come and share thoughts about how well the market works, so that plans can begin for the 2008 season.

"This is another opportunity to join the 'Eat Local' challenge," said Arrowsmith, "and by shopping at the market, we all support the producers within our community since all the vendors come from the PICK'M counties of Pine, Isanti, Chisago, Kanabec and Mille Lacs."

For more information call the Braham Area Chamber of Commerce at 320-396-4956. It will supply "Open Eye Coffee," plates and utensils for the pot luck social. Door Prize drawings feature the chamber's coffee blend called "Coffee, Pie and I."
