“A MONROE CROSSING BLUEGRASS CHRISTMAS” RETURNS TO THE PARADISE THEATER

One of the most entertaining and engaging bluegrass acts on the national
scene today, Monroe Crossing will be in concert at Mora’s Paradise
Theatre presenting “A Monroe Crossing Christmas” on Sunday, December
21st at 4:00 p.m. Opening for Monroe Crossing will be the phenomenal
teenage quintet, The Sawtooth Bluegrass Band. (See below for digital
band photos, schedules, ticket prices and outlets).

Minnesota Music Hall of Fame member Monroe Crossing is touring in
support of their latest CD, “Live From Silver Dollar City.” While the
evening’s program will include songs from the new album, “A Monroe
Crossing Christmas,” will feature selections from their seasonal sampler
“The Happy Holidays.” Old familiar carols such as “Silver Bells,” “Holly
Jolly Christmas,” and “Up On The Housetop” get a warm bluegrass feel
from Benji’s banjo, Lisa’s fiddle and Matt’s mandolin. You’re likely to
hear many of your seasonal favorites like “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,”
Oh Come All Ye Faithful,” “Angels We Have Heard On High” or “What Child
Is This?”

Monroe Crossing also serves up country and bluegrass-inspired tunes
(“Christmas Time’s A Comin’”), traditional folk songs (“Christ Was Born
In Bethlehem”), past hits from Elvis’ “Blue Christmas” to Bing Crosby’s
“White Christmas,” some seasonal band originals including the CD’s title
track, and a few holiday surprises too.

Monroe Crossing:
“One of the most entertaining, crowd-pleasing acts in the bluegrass
music genre at time.” — California Bluegrass Association

“I dare ANYONE to watch Monroe Crossing and not get happy!” — D.A.
Callaway, Silver Dollar City, Branson MO.

“Your stage presence and interaction with the audience was outstanding.
The vocals were amazing, and your musicianship was absolutely
top-notch.” — Marty Scarbrough, KASU’s Bluegrass Mondays, Paragould AR

“If you enjoy listening to great gospel music then look no farther....
it doesn’t get any better than this.” — Al Shusterman - Backroads
Bluegrass, Sacramento CA

Sawtooth Bluegrass Band:
"You won’t believe your ears when you hear these two sets of brothers
pickin’ and strummin’ with jaw-dropping ease. It is talent that’s far,
far beyond their years." — Kurt Augustine, St John’s Block Party,
Rochester, MN

Monroe Crossing performances also feature original compositions and
unique arrangements of bluegrass classics such as “Orange Blossom
Special” and “I Am A Man of Constant Sorrow,” and gospel favorites like
“I’ll Fly Away” and “Amazing Grace.” And don’t be surprised if they
include some great “crossing” tunes like The Temptations’ “My Girl” or
Etta James’ “At Last,” both found on their 2005 CD “Somebody Like You.”
Monroe Crossing has recorded eight CDs, to include this year’s “Live
From Silver Dollar City,” and their latest all-gospel collection, “Into
The Fire” from 2006. In addition, their collaborative album with the
renowned choral ensemble VocalEssence entitled “The World Beloved-A
Bluegrass Mass” was released last year.

“The Midwest’s Premier Bluegrass & Gospel Quintet,” Monroe Crossing
plays over 125 shows a year at major venues across the country,
including The Big Top Chautauqua in Bayfield WI, Branson’s Silver Dollar
City and the legendary Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View AR. They are a
member of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Minnesota
Music Academy’s Bluegrass Album of the Year Award , and were an Official
Showcase Band at the 2007 IBMA World of Bluegrass convention in Nashville.
