Thank you for embracing the Sensational Saturday! Conference and sharing this opportunity with your colleagues, neighbors, friends, and families! Your active support is very much appreciated.
A conference for parents, child care professionals, and community members will be held at Trailview School, 200 East 9th Street in Mora, Minnesota on Saturday, November 22, 2008. Sensational Saturday! is co-sponsored by Mora Public Schools, Community Education, ECFE (District #332), P. S. Wee Care of Mora, and Professional Learning Alternatives, Inc. located in Forest Lake, Minnesota.
This second annual conference will focus on techniques to build early literacy skills. There are four breakout sessions, each with three seminar selections. The keynote panel is comprised of several ISD #332 educators. They will be speaking about the early literacy campaign entitled, “Raising a Reader by Building Language Together” and will also present two breakout sessions. Other presenters are regional experts from the early childhood and school age fields including Hannah and Tom Casey (Encore School of Music), Addie Clyde, Deb Colling, Nancy Liebelt, Colleen M. Pachel, and Kim Woehl.
Seven total in-service hours are available and training certificates will be provided. Sensational Saturday! is from 7:30 AM – 3:15 PM. Doors open at 7:00 AM for continental breakfast and visiting with the exhibitors and each other.
Topics include strategies to help children and adults tell their own story. There are presentations on using photography, music, games, and books and other media to foster literacy skills; marketing strategies using stories; and creating an environment conducive to cultivating positive social and emotional development in children.
Fees include breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Registration brochures are available online or you may call to request that one be mailed. Sorry, no phone registrations are accepted (except for groups) and child care is not available.
Attached is a poster for the conference. If you would place the poster in high traffic areas and perhaps even announce it to everyone you know this weekend, that would be FABULOUS! Take posters to your place of worship, grocery store, doctor's office, gym, school, work place - everywhere!
In addition to the child care professional, who would be interested in attending? Parents, grandparents, nursery volunteers, coaches, babysitters, aunts and uncles, Sunday School teachers, clergy, bus drivers, health care professionals, and anyone who supports the care and education of children and youth. Training certificates will be provided to all registered participants.
And remember: Each paid participant is automatically entered in a drawing for a hand-made cedar swing. You must be present to win.
