Notice to area Chamber Members:
*Peoples National Bank along with Kanabec Hospital are again sponsoring
the" Dig Pink" event for the Mora High School Volleyball team on October
4th for breast cancer awareness and research. This is the second year
the Mora Mustang Volleyball team has been involved with this worthwhile
event. A little bit about the Side-Out Foundation that organizes this
event:*
* Side-Out is committed to the unification of the sport of
volleyball and its alliance with the breast cancer awareness and
education movement.
* Side-Out's initiatives involve middle/high school, college, club
and professional volleyball players and coaches.
* Side-Out has a customized suite of Internet-based software that
makes team/event fundraising easy. The Side-Out software can
monitor and evaluate each fundraising effort, and also helps in
the distribution of funds.
* Side-Out is not just a charity. We participate nationally in the
breast cancer community. Below are examples of what we are
currently doing:
· Clinical trials with a focus on translational research.
· Supporting community breast cancer organizations, bringing together
these centers to share ideas with respect to support, treatments and
therapies.
· Holding camps and clinics for volleyball players that not only teach
volleyball, but also life skills that aid players during times of
adversity. We also strive to educate them about the importance of
"being a coach" to those in need.
· Assisting the nation's players and coaches in distributing educational
materials to their local communities.
· We have a cancer support specialist within arm's reach through our
relationship with Life with Cancer.
* Side-Out has a blue-ribbon Board of Directors and Advisors to
include NCAA coaches, marketing professionals, Hall of Fame player
Sinjin Smith and former beach pro, Holly McPeak.
* Side-Out is sponsored by USA Volleyball, and is strongly supported
by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
* Side-Out has a strong relationship with the National Cancer
Institute and has an internationally recognized scientific
advisory team.
*Come out and support the girls for this great cause! If you can't be at
the volleyball event, we are asking everyone to at least wear pink in
support of Breast Cancer awareness/research on October 4th.*
