Hey, we're at it again!
The 2nd Annual Christmas Window Decorating Contest will commence on
Friday, Nov. 25th (Moonlight Madness) and the winner will be chosen on
Sat. Dec. 3rd at our 2nd Annual Community Christmas Gathering at the
Chamber Office where we'll have Santa, cookies, cider and hopefully
horse drawn sleigh rides.
It's a great reason to get in gear for the season and also to get folks
window shopping and into your businesses. The winner of the Christmas
window contest will receive a 1/4 page full color ad in the Advertiser
that can be used for your holiday advertising! For those of you
interested in participating in the contest - which I hope all of you
are, we ask that you have your windows ready for outdoor viewing by Nov.
25th. We also are requesting that you donate a $10.00 gift certificate.
As we did last year, these will go into a drawing for one community
member's winning prize.
This year, Glen Johnstone has promised us a 25+ foot tree that will go
in front of the Vasaloppet Headquarters. We will decorate it with white
lights and light it on Dec. 3rd.
Window Contest voting will begin on November 25th^.On December 3rd, all
ballots must be turned in to a box at the Chamber office (111 South
Union Street). That afternoon at 4:15, the voting will cease and between
4:15 and 4:30 the winner (business owner) of the window decoration will
be announced. Then one of the ballots will be chosen from the entire box
and that winner (community member) will be announced. At 4:45, the City's
Christmas tree will be lit and we invite all folks in town to sing along
with carolers on the street (*Would anyone of you please help lead the
charge on gathering carolers* ?!!).
That's the plan!
I would really appreciate it if you would let me know if you are
interested in participating - RIGHT AWAY! I need to get the business
list into the paper as soon as possible. I will get ballots to your
stores within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully sooner - as it all depends on
the responses we get for this.
I'm excited to see our town dressed up in it's holiday finest. You folks
make it all happen - Thank you.
All my best to you.
Karen.
