ToPs Facilitation Training
*
Jenifer Rancour reflects on her recent training.
There is nothing worse than attending a meeting that does not feel worth
my time! I was intrigued when I first heard of the Technology of
Participation facilitation methods. The TOP group process helps groups
think, talk and work together. They provide facilitators with
structured methods to recognize and honor contributions of all, deal
with more data in less time, and bring together our individual ideas to
help inform and develop patterns for action. I knew bringing this
training in would be of great benefit at a personal and community level
and it was so fun to be trained in as a group with coalition members!
SACK had the opportunity to host a two day training on facilitation
methods on June 24th & 25th. 18 participants learned how to lead a
focused conversation, a consensus workshop and an action planning
process. Being intentional and prepared is vital to all the people at
the table. Asking questions to a group in a focused flow sets
boundaries to the conversation while allowing the group to feel included
and is so helpful in fostering great conversation and action steps. A
variety of perspectives will enrich our work as a coalition and the
decisions we make will affect our lives and our community. If you
missed this training opportunity, don't hesitate to contact Jenifer
Rancour for more information on how a meeting led with intention can
lead to effective action!
