It's all over the news, it's in the newspaper and Chamber of Commences 
are warning business owners to take care.

You may think you'd never fall for an internet SCAM or or give someone 
on the phone your credit card number or purchase a debit card to pay a 
bill because someone threatened you, but smart people like you are 
getting bilked every day.   It's getting harder to know who to trust 
anymore.

It's difficult to estimate exactly how much money (and peace of mind) is 
involved but many people are too embarrassed to report the fraud, but 
estimates put the total at over $20 /*billion */annually

Our panel of experts will explain what SCAMS are circulating now and how 
to protect yourself.  Our speakers are:

    Facts About Scams


Males are slightly more likely to be victims of online fraud, accounting 
for 55.4 percent of all filed claims.

Additionally, males tend to lose more money than females ($1.69 per 
every $1.00 lost by a female).

Close to one half of all filed claims were reported by individuals 
between the ages of 30 and 50. Of all filed claims, roughly one-third 
originated in California, Texas, Florida and New York.

Approximately 74 percent of all scams were initiated via e-mail.

On the other side, 77.4 of those who perpetrate identity theft scams are 
estimated to be male. Of all thieves, 66.1 percent reside in the United 
States.
