Local Yoga Expert to speak to local Dala Business Women

Charrie VanVleet has been teaching since 2001. She is a certified Kriya
(purified action) Hatha 200 hour yoga teacher from the Temple of Kriya
Yoga in Chicago in 2001, certified postnatal with Yoga Bonding, 500 Hour
Yoga Therapy certification in 2014 from Spirit Of The Lake Yoga, and a
year apprenticeship in Sound Healing. Her teachings are of the Kriya
Yoga, meditation, philosophy, pranayama, subtle anatomy (chakras), Yoga
Nidra and yoga therapeutics.
Charrie also has a great passion for being a doula/birth coach which she
loves, providing emotional and physical comfort and informational
support to a women during her pregnancy and birth.
Charrie lives on an organic farm with many beautiful gardens, and during
the summer months has wellness workshops at her farm and an annual
family friendly music fest.

Meeting Minutes - January 26, 2015*
*Members present*: Pam Mattson, Linda Laitala, Lynn Olson, Paula
Jehlicka, Leona Dressel, Chris Rocheford, Sharon Prahl, Evette Wissler
Guests present: Sharon Howard, Alana Knox, Kinsey Folkema, Lois

*DBW Business Meeting* – presided by Co-Chair Pam Mattson. *Collect;
Pledge of Allegiance *
*Secretary’s Report* – Leona Dressel Minutes of December 8, 2014.
Motion by Linda Laitala, seconded by Chris Rocheford, to approve the
Minutes as prepared and issued. Carried.
*Treasurer’s Report*- Financial Report presented by Leona Dressel.
Copies distributed of the Financial Report as of 1/21/2015. Motion by
Linda Laitala, seconded by Evette Wissler, to place the Financial Report
on file for audit. Motion carried.
*State Director Report* – Sharon Prahl. Copies distributed of the
1/10/2015 Board of Directors Minutes, /MN Federation of Business &
Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. (MBW)/
State MBW state-wide event will be in St. Cloud April 24-25, 2015.
Discussion held on the State MBW request for a 5 Minute “club skit”
relative to history (entries due by March 1^st ) - DBW discussed using
our PowerPoint developed by Linda Laitala - Linda and Sharon will work
on this project.
Discussion held on the State MBW’s request for each club to donate a
theme gift basket. Consensus of our local group to accept Linda
Laitala’s generous donation of a “purse” and other individual members
should donate and bring in items to place within the “purse” basket.
Items need by March DBW Meeting.
Discussion held on attendees from our local club that may be interested
in attending the April state-wide event and the possibility of DBW
providing some sort of financial support and/or ride share/room share -
tabled to next meeting. Members asked to take a look at their calendars
and to consider attending the state event.
*Web Design Manager Report* - Chris Rocheford. Chris reported that we
can go to the State’s web site and our local group will have a “page”;
content up and in process of inserting picture(s).
*New Business: *
*Scholarships: *Consensus to re-establish a Scholarship Committee:
volunteers included Sharon Prahl, Evette Wissler and Chris Randt.
Discussion held on having the Scholarship Committee do a brief
presentation or outline on the DBW Scholarship Program/criteria and
process for it at our next DBW meeting.
Motion by Pam Mattson, seconded by Sharon Prahl, to utilize the proceeds
from the October 2014 National Business Women Week fundraiser and the
proceeds from the upcoming March2015 Girl Friend’s Evening Out towards
Scholarships. Motion carried. The 2014 NBWW event had proceeds of $696
(which is currently within the DBW Checking Account).
*Mora High School Letter dated 1/8/2015* - Erin Jones and Alexis
Stenstrom were the recipients /transcripts now received. Leona Dressel
will issue the payment of $500 per individual as indicated within the
correspondence and previously approved by DBW at time the two young
women were selected as recipients during the last scholarship review and
selection process.
*Treasurer Position*. Discussion held on individual members to consider
stepping up and volunteering for the officer position of Treasurer.
Currently Pam Mattson and Leona Dressel are signatories and both have
been doing the Treasurer responsibilities. It is in best business
practice for our local club to have a specific Treasurer. Contact either
Leona, Pam or Linda if you are interested in filling this position.
Note: The DBW club year is from June 2014-May 2015 (June through May
each year). Officers are typically elected in May for the upcoming club
year.
*Audit of DBW Accounts: 2012/2013/ and through10/31/2014. *Linda
Laitala presented the audit review, and recommendations, as conducted by
Linda L, Pam M, and Leona Dressel as ex-officio member, on11/18/2014 for
the period of 2012, 2013 and through October 31, 2014. Written report
on file.
Motion by Linda Laitala, seconded by Evette Wissler, to accept the
2012/2013/and through 10/31/2014 Audit Report as prepared and presented
and place on file. Motion carried.
*Spire Accounts on-line banking* (no cost for having e-statements).
Leona Dressel informed the membership of her understanding with Spire
accounts, that being for small businesses the $10/month fee would be
waived if the business uses e-statements or has an active debit card.
DBW will not have a debit card associated with their account at Spire
unless specifically authorized by its general membership. Leona did
activate the e-statement option.
*Paradise Theatre – Third Annual Film Festival in April ’15* (Coen
Brothers) – possible sponsorship for $250. Linda Laitala held discussion
on the contact made to her relative to have DBW consider being one of
the sponsors for the annual Festival. Discussion held. Consensus was
that although our local club supports the general Festival event, at
this time DBW would not provide a sponsorship of the $250. Individual
members could privately consider making a donation if they wish. Linda
Laitala will thank the Festival organizer for the opportunity to
consider this sponsorship; however the club declines at this time.

Co-Chair Pam Mattson called for Other New business. Item discussed on
the food menu of Freddies and the necessity to provide statements on any
of our publications of invite to include: if special dietary needs are
requested, please request at time of RSVP. Mark Cannon, Freddies,
indicated that if DBW has a small group of 10-12 attendees he can
provide 2 or 3 menu options and have attendees order off the menu.
However, if DBW has 15 or more attendees, and/or a larger event, then
Freddies would establish a menu with DBW, however an adjustment can be
made for special dietary considerations upon prior request.
*Old Business:*
*Audit of Accounts 2009/2010/2011* Sharon Prahl provided review and
audit recommendations for the Audit of Accounts for the period of 2009,
2010, and 2011. Written report on file. Motion by Leona Dressel,
seconded by Linda Laitala, to file the Audit Report for the period of
2009, 2010 and 2011 as prepared and presented. Motion carried.
*32^nd Annual East Central Business & Community Expo /“BACK TO THE
FUTURE”/. (Tabled)*
Kanabec County Fairgrounds, Civic Center - ( was tabled from November
Meeting)
noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on
Saturday, April 11,2015.
Members to think of pros relative to participation and what our “goals
and/or outcomes” may be in participating.
*Coborn’s Brat Stand - scholarship fundraiser* – Leona did pick up an
application form to participate in the Mora Coborn’s Brat Stand.
Consensus was to complete and submit the application (some dates
reviewed). This helps bring the DBW group visible in the community and a
great fundraiser. If our application is accepted, DBW will be notified
with the Friday and Saturday dates and Volunteers will be needed to
assist with this fundraiser.
No other business items brought forth.
