Basic Drawing Class Offered at the Kanabec History Center
The three day class will run Monday June 11 through Wednesday June 13, 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. Basic Drawing includes gesture, figure, portrait and
landscape drawing. You will learn about composition and a variety of drawing
techniques. The instructor for the class is local artist Donna Olson.
Students should bring a sketch pad, 2B & 4B drawing pencils, a pink eraser,
a small mirror and a bag lunch. Call the Kanabec History Center at
320-679-1665 for fee information and to register. The Kanabec History Center
is located at 805 West Forest Avenue in Mora.

Open House This Sat. May 19
The Kanabec History Center invites everyone to an Open House, Sat.
May 19, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in honor of Mora's 125th Anniversary. There
will be new exhibits, free admission, free coffee and cake and free popcorn.
The KHC Food Booth will be open 10:30 to 4 with hot dogs, chili dogs, chips
and root beer floats.
There will also be a gathering of seven area clay artists. There
will be demonstrations of throwing and other pottery techniques. You will be
able to see the process from start to finished including glazing and firing.
Besides the demos there will be pots etc. for sale.
Peggy Myers, an area calligrapher will be doing on-going calligraphy
demonstrations, you can stop and give it a try. Peggy will be showing some
of the beginning basic pen strokes.
The Mora Town and Country Garden Club will have a plant sale here
that day starting at 7 a.m. Some great bargains and many experienced
gardeners on hand.
This will also be the grand opening of the new Antique and
Collectable Nook. The Nook has many interesting items for sale, some rail
road memorabilia, dishes, glassware a beautiful antique quilt, several dolls
and many other items.

Old Tyme Country School
at The Kanabec History Center, Its Fun!!
Old Tyme Country School classes are held in the historic Whittier School, on
the Kanabec History Center grounds each summer. The classes are taught with
materials from the early 1900’s, games at recess and other activities are
all based on this time period. This year’s sessions are: Week 1 - July 23
thought the 27th; Week 2 - August 6 through 10 and Week 3 - August 13
through the 17th. Each session consists of five consecutive days running
from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Students wishing to participate in Old Tyme Country School this summer at
the Kanabec History Center need to register as soon as possible since
classes fill quickly. Call 320-679-1665 for fee information. Classes are
open to all students first through eighth grade. We have several students
each year that visit from other parts of the country, as well as our own
Kanabec County students. For registration forms and more information,
