> Highway 169 switches to single lane in each direction north of Milaca April 22
> Wide loads will be restricted and should seek alternate routes
>
> ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The northbound lanes of Highway 169 north of Milaca between County Road 11 and the Rum River Rest Area will close beginning Thursday, April 21, and traffic will switch onto narrow, temporary lanes with a reduced speed limit.
>
> The lane closures and speed limit reduction will continue through August while crews reconstruct seven miles of northbound Highway 169.
>
> Farmers, freight haulers and heavy equipment operators should be aware that a 10-foot width restriction will be in place on the temporary lanes, and that implements, vehicles or loads wider than 10 feet are likely to cause damage to adjacent infrastructure. Operators or motorists who damage infrastructure or equipment within state rights of way may be held responsible for the damage under state law.
>
> Motorists approaching the Highway 169 work zones should slow down, be prepared to stop, obey the reduced speed limits, and watch for flaggers, crews and heavy equipment.
>
> When complete in August, the project will result in a smoother ride; improved safety with wider driving lanes, wider shoulders and longer turn lanes; and improved drainage.
